Eclipse phase game log update

It has been a long time since I have had the energy to update my Eclipse Phase players log.

There has been a lot of water under the bridge since my last update, and our greasy pimple faced friend has undergone a few changes. When we last met, Duncan had shed the metallic snake skin of his former Slitheriod morph and donned the non-descript body of a Flat.  After running a few missions for Firewall, Duncan decided that he wanted to upgrade to a neotenic morph.

The change in morph was mostly for aesthetic reasons. Duncan has a bit of a Peter Pan complex. He wanted to be the boy that never grows up. The morph change had both positive and negative impacts on his mission capability.

Duncan’s core attributes have always been in the social skills – deception, persuasion, and intimidation (read torture). In combat he prefers to sit back and use his sniper rifle, often rigging his surroundings with explosives to provide a nasty surprise to any sneaky sneakers.

The neotenic morph improved Duncan’s survivability by adding a few points to Willpower. But negative societal attitudes to neotenics have blunted his social skills somewhat.

The new morph has so far suited Duncan well. When his Fireteam busted a religious cult playing with AI in the Jovian Greeks, Duncan took on a more offensive posture and rigged the facility with thermos-explosives. Later in that very same mission Duncan was forced into a life and death struggle with his colleague and friend, Murder Hobo. Duncan was lucky to survive that encounter and the extra points in Willpower played no small role.

Whether it was the ordeal on the Greeks, or just some innate sense of whininess, Duncan passed on the opportunity to go to Ilmarinen with the rest of the fireteam. Instead, he has been sifting around on an anarchist Hab. By the time the fireteam returned, most residents on the Hab were thoroughly sick of the way Duncan constantly talked about himself. His manner in general tended to make even the most liberal minded anarchist a little uncomfortable.

The fireteam picked up a few hot tips while away. At some point we will need to head back to Mars to fill a contract for an Elder One. The teams nemesis, Zaishan Bosshard is also out there somewhere, watching from the shadows.
